Guitar playing - facts 2

1) When a guitar string is played but not fretted, it is called an open string.

2) The note sounded when an open string is played is the name of the string. The first string played open is a high E, second is a B, third G, fourth D, fifth A, and the sixth string is low E. See guitar string names.

The tuners on a guitar are used to tune the strings to different pitches. They are located on the headstock.

The nut is a small strip of plastic or other material, located at the joint where the headstock meets the fretboard.
